Alquezar

Alquezar, We can go canyoning and rock climbing.

Over the waters of the Vero rivers’s canyon, the medieval village of Alquézar is set, at the heart of Sierra de Guara. This town of the Somontano de Barbastro region has preserved its rich architecture, which in addition to its landscape ambience make it one of Aragón and Spain most beautiful towns. We can go canyoning and rock climbing in its surroundings, and also visit cave art, castles, its beautiful Collegiate church and walk along countless paths full of history.

The name of Alquézar comes from the Arabic term “Al Qasr”, the fortress, because of the castle that was built to defend the capital of Barbitanya, today known as Barbastro.

In Alquézar we may visit the Collegiate church, San Miguel’s church, the main square, the Gothic Gate, the Nuestra Señora de las Nieves shrine, and Casa Fabián ethnological museum.
